WHY LINEN

Linen is a 100% plant-based fibre. The flax plant it comes from asks nothing of the soil — no toxic insecticides, pesticides or fertilisers — and along the way it works as an effective carbon sink. It uses less water than cotton to grow, and almost the whole plant is used, so very little is wasted and very little energy is spent turning it into fabric.

The plant is renewable. It doesn't deplete the soil it grows in. And the fibre itself is biodegradable and fully compostable at the end of its life — though if you love it, mend it and care for it the way we hope you will, this dress may never really reach that end at all.
